By Federal law gaining legal access to a gun is a process simpler than a refinancing a family home in the United States. Our government states that under federal law a licensed gun dealer cannot sell any handguns and/or ammo to anyone that is under 21 and can’t sell long arms (Shot guns/ rifles) to anyone under the age of 18 but an unlicensed dealer cannot sell handguns to anyone under 18 and can sell long arms to anyone regardless of age. Once you’ve filled out an ATF questionnaire, your name gets sent into the FBI instant criminal check system and is usually done over the phone and completed right then and there. On some occasions the background check can run for another day or two and if not completed by then some dealers will still complete the sale and send you on your way. Let people keep the guns that they have and let anyone that has already gone through the process keep going about their normal lives but introduce the new laws to the people currently in the process of owning a gun. Deeper and more thorough background checks. Don’t just check criminal background because not everyone that wants to buy a gun is a criminal. Begin checking background of all aspects, employee records and how they acted in the workplace, school disciplinary records, and a social medias. After passing the background screening a person applying for a gun should go through a proper mental check and have no abnormalities in either.With new technological advances improving guns in order to make them safe and more personalized to the person when they completely finish the permit process. Implementing technology could give us the possibility that guns that are safe locked with a fingerprint and cannot be unlocked without the same fingerprint, also using the same technology to seal gun safes and the storage of the gun safes must be somewhere not in plain sight and must be out of reach of small children if any are present in the home.
