If assault weapons are being banned, people cannot use guns as an effective weapon to protect themselves; as a result, it might put even more people in danger. Furthermore, most of the time police officers do not arrive at the crime scene until the crime has been committed. Therefore, banning the use of assault weapons is not an effective way for citizens to protect themselves.
