We are students at Purvis Middle School and we would like to talk about an argument that we feel strongly about, which is the topic of arming teachers.
Recently people have been talking about arming teachers. People say that this will lead to less school shootings and it might, but there's more to this than people realize and it will be a lot harder said than done. Have you ever thought of the teachers position? How would the teachers feel? Do you think all the students would look at the teachers the same after that? Everyone is dangerous but people often don't realize until they hurt someone. Once someone has blood on their hands that is when people realize how dangerous they are. No one would look at the teacher the same after that. And that would affect their career greatley. There are many more reasons for this and here are a few of them. There is a lot of cost that would go into this. For example the state has to pay for the gun and ammo. Where does this money come from are people willing to pay more taxes. Also if a teacher got a gun what is stopping them from shooting kids most kids do not think it would make them feel safe. Also teachers are not in their mind to shoot a student they are trained and are in the mentality to care and nurture students not put a hole in them. Also do you think a student would be able to look at a teacher the same after they saw them shoot a person the kids would be tarfided. As already stated everyone is dangerous but people do not realize how dangerous they are until they have blood on their hands. This would also greatly affect their career and if the teacher moved it would be hard to get a job because this would be on their permanent record and the educational board wherever they are will not want to hire someone who is dangerous whether it is in self defence or not. Another thing is what would happen if a student where to get ahold of the gun think of how much damage they could cause with it. Another thing is how lately people have been talking about this situation on the news and all over the world, which was mostly people giving reasons we could have it. There are very many good reasons to allow teachers to carry a gun, but there are also as many bad as there are good. One thing people have been saying is that the guns will protect us and that the students will feel safer with their teacher being armed.However, if we arm a teacher, he or she would have to go through a lot of training, which they don't have time for, and they would also have to be able to have a strong enough heart to shoot a person, if they are threatening us. Even though the students might feel safe, the teacher definitely wouldn't, if she wasn't properly trained, which once again she or he would not have time for because of the summer being so short. Really even if they decided to allow teachers to have guns it wouldn't be
