Guns have been a part of our culture since the very birth of our nation. They have been used in a variety of ways for hunting, sport, war, and protection. It became the social norm to have at least one stored away in most households. However, over time the tool that was once used for self-defense and as a last resort has now been turned into a weapon of mass destruction. Some might argue for the removal of guns from homes altogether. I on the other hand, have no doubt that guns themselves are not to blame; after all, they have no ulterior motive. The trouble resides in the people who use them for wrong doing. 1: Gun control will lower crime rates. Guns have gained a very negative reputation in our current society due to the increase in crimes. In reality it doesn’t matter how many documents and permits are required to own a gun. People are just generally not trusting of anyone who owns a gun besides officers of the law and even they are gaining a bad reputation due to the media. “For years, the District of Columbia has infringed on its residents’ Second Amendment rights and rendered them vulnerable to criminals who could care less what the gun laws are.” (qtd. in Davis, Aaron par.5). This quote from senator Rubio himself a future presidential candidate shows just how strongly opinionated he feels towards gun laws. As far as not being trust worthy someone in his position clearly gained the trust and admiration of the public in order to remain in office. He also brings up a very valid point should gun laws be passed to further ban them it will only be taking guns from people who have legal documentation and permits. It will do nothing about the illegal weapons being sold on the streets. It would be completely irresponsible to leave so many people
