“Wow,” was all I said when I saw my friends I haven’t seen all summer standing at my door. I practically hung out with them every day until my hectic summer schedule came in, so it felt like I haven’t seen them in forever, even when it was only about 2 months. It’s funny how you would think summer is the time of relaxation and hanging out with friends everyday. As for me, I stayed a busy bee, and did many activities to pursue my dream of becoming a triple threat, and getting my name known.

One day, I wasn’t doing anything in all of the weeks I’ve been so busy, so it was a bit odd when my mom kept on nagging me to get dressed and ready for the day. It was weird she said that because she knows that when I have days I do nothing, I am so determined to stay in my pajamas the whole time, and just lay around on the couch watching YouTube videos. In the midst of me sitting around and playing games on my phone, the doorbell rings. Suddenly, my mom calls for me, and tells me someone is at the door for me. I kept thinking who it could be, and I guess you can say I stayed terribly confused. Also, I was very hesitant to go to my front door, since normally no one is at the front door for me without me knowing. My mom got impatient with me, since I was taking too long, so I just decided to man up and answer the door.

I was a bit disappointed, but then I shook it off, because I’m not normally one who over thinks those things. I open the door and there they are, the friends that I haven’t seen and the same ones who didn’t text me

Another hot summer in Idaho at another family reunion. I chased after my dad and brother’s cloud of dust; reving my ATV’s (all terrain vehicle) engine I whipped around the land my great great uncle homesteaded on. My confidence grew as did my speed until my wheel caught and spun me right into a log that pierced through the fender and into my leg. It was the first time I ever blacked out. When I came too a few seconds later I was alone; high on the trails of the Sawtooth mountains, blood gushing from my shin.…

Jackie Robinson once said “I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me… all I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” This was my motto as i moved to the USA from Egypt at the age of six years old. Although i was not as old as i am now it was still tough. Thanks to determination and persistence i was able to not only make it in school but understand the language and speak it. It had been a year after my brother was born, i had made a lot of friends in kindergarten, had my dad’s side of the family here, i had finally learned to read and write a little bit of Arabic, and was about to go to first grade.…
