Personal Narrative: Traffic In Santa Cruz

Improved Essays
As we were in stop and go traffic in Santa Cruz, I got a little more excited every minute. I had never been to Boardwalk before, and it was killing me every single time we stopped. When I saw my first glimpse of the rides in front of the bright blue sky, the traffic was worth it. We parked and got tickets for unlimited rides! The rides were as tall as a three story mansion. We made our way to the end and I saw the first ride I wanted to go on: Pirate Ship. I was so overjoyed that I was glowing. I got on the ride and sat down as quickly as I could, waiting for the ride to start. The ride starts to dance by kicking up and falling back. It was so exhilarating that I did not stop laughing until my feet hit the …show more content…
I watched the Giant Dipper go up the tracks and I asked my parents if one of them could take me. Unexpectedly, my mom said that she would take me and that she rode the Giant Dipper as a teenager. My dad goes to take my siblings to a kiddie ride while my mom and I wait in line. All of the sudden, I get very nervous that I could hear my heart thumping as loud as a drum and I felt butterflies dancing in my stomach. We got into the seats of the coaster and the countdown started. I held my mom’s hand and squeezed it tight. We plunged into darkness and I screamed at the top of my lungs. We came back the other side and made our way up on the bright red track while the scents of fried food and the ocean took over our senses. We went down the drop and I screamed in joy. The ride could not have been any more fun! Every twist and turn I laughed some more. By the time the ride was over, I had to go to the bathroom because I’d laughed so hard, and at the end of the day, my smile was as big as an

There was a rush through my body thinking, Wow, that was fun!! We have gone on a lot more rides, by the end of the day. My favorite ride was that there was three different slides that are pitch dark and you get one soft mate and you go up a small set of wooden stairs then you race down the slide and the reason I loved it was because it takes about four seconds to get to the bottom of the slide but it feels like it takes a minute. A lot of the rides were fun some scary, and some adrenaline pumping. Ashley was tired and we had went on the rides we wanted to go on, so we had paid to get are belongings.…

In 1967, my great grandmother settled in San Francisco from Nicaragua, a small country in Central America. The atmosphere of San Francisco at this time was one of acceptance and peace, stemming from the Summer of Love and the Haight-Ashbury culture. Coming from a poverty-stricken country, and having visited before, the Bay Area was an opportunity for a new life, better conditions, and job possibilities not available at home. Unfortunately, lack of a basic education and understanding of American culture hindered her opportunity to obtain legitimate employment. California offered her the opportunity to utilize her entrepreneurial skills and start her own bakery after a fews years of settling in the city.…

I acted like I wasn't scared, and was talking about how I didn't care about the size of the roller coasters.…

It was the largest, most thrilling roller coaster yet to be found. I didn't believe it but knowing my best friend Prisa she was not gonna let me miss out on as she would always say, “once in a lifetime opportunities”. It was a hot, sunny day as the sun lit up the whole park. The blunt air had no wind or even a soft gentle breeze. It was just plain old humid and to add on to that, we were crowded with a solid 200 people in the line,…

I had never had so much fun with obnoxiously loud carnival music blasting in my ears, small children stupidly goofing off in front of me, and the smell of food that was so greasy it made my stomach turn. Things that usually gave me a migraine, now made me intoxicated on my own cheerfulness. However, everyone knows that all good things must come to an end.
