I was working at on the Chicago Transit Authority, (CTA) train station in the customer assistant service department. My job responsibilities included assisting customers with directions and handling of emergency situations, monitoring and handling elevator entrapments, as well as viewing camera film. I assisted and helped people who have fallen on the tracks, dropped things on the tracks. In the Human Services field I am very passionate about working with people in the deaf culture. I am passionate about working with this population because I know American Sign Language and I feel a connection to the community. Learning ASL took a long time and allowed me to be engaged in many events in the deaf community. I believe people in this population are not given nearly as much attention or opportunities as they should be. The lack of equal access to education, jobs, and basic interactions that hearing people take for granted is not fair and puts this population at a disadvantage therefore making it important for people to want to work with this group of people.…

As a Resident Advisor, I have supervisory responsibilities over the residents staying in Bromley Hall for athletic summer camps. Campers range from ages 8 to 18 years of age. There are three main tenets to Bromley Hall’s philosophy for resident advisors--effective communication, listening, and consistency-- all of which I believe I effectively model. I work with a team of eighteen other resident advisors to coordinate check-in and check-out procedures, night activities, and floor meetings for the campers.
