A Memorable Research Paper
There have been countless times where I have had to write specific papers for my classes, and I have done so nonchalantly without giving them much thought. I do recall the one time that my research paper from my Principles of Engineering class changed my outlook on not just my writing but also on my future. In my Principles of Engineering class, we were assigned to write a research paper on a branch of engineering that we found interesting and expand on it by expressing our motives for choosing that branch. Our paper had to be five pages long and include at least five resources in our works cited page and it had to be informative and directed towards our peers. I got started right away on what I thought was just another research paper when I realized I really had no idea what to write about.
I had never thought about which branch of engineering I wanted to go into until I did this research paper, as I had yet to realize that there existed different pathways within engineering. Since I had no idea what to write about, I had to do some planning before I began writing. Most of my pre-writing was actually me just reading up on the different fields of engineering and figuring out which one appealed to me the most. I would say this stage of my writing process took up most of my time as I constantly got drifted away from my main focus. I would get distracted by watching the videos of what…
