How did this experience influence your goals? I was playing soccer with my friends in my neighborhood just a normal day everything looked as usual. We started playing for saint cathedral school in that year and we learned how to shoot on a real rim and how to make a layup left and right hand. Let me remind that was our first time on a real rim and board. It was October 2009 this was our first game with cruise school. We were losing 40 to 42 by our opponents. I was playing as shooting guard, the referee told us only 2 min till the game is over( we didn’t have score boards). The referee blows the whistle; it was there ball, the dude that was holding the ball passed it the individual I was guarding so I stole the ball and I run to the pole as fast as I can. I was hearing cheering voice form the crowd saying “go Nate, go Nate you got it”. I was exhausted but I told myself I can’t let my teammate down and myself too. So I scored the ball before the buzzer. This was my first won and wasn’t our last. After that game I saw how hard it

My leadership strengths are the ability to motivate others into action, be calm in a crisis and diverse communication. For example, I realize not everyone communicates the same and the ability to recognize and adjust my style of communication to fit others is essential, particularly in a business setting. The same can be said about writing styles because it is a form of communication and everyone develops a different style. I do love to write on topics that interest me; however, academic writing is most challenging due to topics may not be interesting, maintaining a scholarly tone, and learning to write in APA Style which is like another language.…

My primary leadership style is democratic in nature, and depending on the situation, I will also utilize coaching, authoritative, and pacesetting. I am less apt to use the affiliative or coercive styles, simply because I am not as comfortable with those two approaches. At the beginning of projects, when there is ample time to decide on the direction, I try to include everyone in the discussion, asking for their input in the various decisions that need to be made. Once I’ve heard everyone’s input, I’ll work with the team to flesh out the best direction. If there is an item of contention that I feel passionate about, I’ll present my case as to why I feel my direction should be chosen to persuade the other members of the team.…

Stadium packed game, filled with energy, all coming down to the final seconds. All we worked for was to live for this. Jogging back down to the other end of the court I remember seeing all the fans in bright red erupt out of their seats as my team scored the ball to put us up by one point. All I could hear was a loud ringing noise and I knew it was because of the moment and how big it was for us, I couldn't take it all in at once.…

When I started 4-H in the 5th grade, I was a timid 10-year-old whose highest level of club participation was occasionally seconding a motion during meetings. I was terrified of making mistakes when I was expected to do farm chores without my leader’s direct oversight. During my first show, I was so nervous that I made a complete embarrassment of myself. One recurring trait among authentic leaders is transparency—being open and genuine with others (Regan, Laschinger, & Wong, 2016; Fusco, O’Riordan, & Palmer, 2016). I have formally led the same team at work for two years. Before being their manager, I was on equal ground with several coworkers for more than five years. Since I was promoted instead of them, I knew feelings would be hurt. Instead of ignoring their feelings, I encouraged open communication with everyone.…

One of my earliest memories comes from when I was only two years old. Because my dad is a basketball coach, he wanted to make sure he instilled a love for basketball in me. One way he thought he could do that was by taking me to basketball open gym at the high school where he works. One evening I was running up and down the side of the court; grabbing a basketball, taking it back to my seat, and then doing it all over again, when the guys asked my dad to play with them because they needed one more player. My dad thought I would be okay by myself for a while because I had been doing a good job at staying away from the players, so he decided to join the game.…
