There are multiple ways I am a leader within my community. The main way I lead my peers is through sports. I have been on my different teams; volleyball, basketball, track, and softball have all given me the opportunity to build my character and to lead by example. I was the volleyball team captain for my junior and senior year, so many of the younger girls were looking up to me. The best way to lead is by your actions; I would always go hard in practices and games to show the underclassmen that in order to get the best results, you need to give it your all.…

When I grow up, I want to change the world! Changing the world one day would make me feel really good. Three ways I would change the world are: make sure everyone has a shelter to live in; help more lost, sick, and hurt animals, and make sure no one is hungry. I would like to help homeless people have a nice place to stay. When I’m driving downtown I see a lot of homeless people on the streets; dirty, and sad.…

By using a planner students are more organized and they avoid asking the same repetitive questions such a “what is due tomorrow or next week” they can just simply find most of the answers to their repetitive questions on their planners. By avoiding repetitive questions it provides the teacher with more instructional time. Her third strategy for use of time would be that she always lets her students know how much time they have to do an activity or discuss something with their partners. My leadership purpose is to encourage people into unity and teamwork, and to prevent them from feeling disappointed in case they face a failure which makes them embrace every challenge with hope and motivation. The lessons in the leadership class helped me understand why I have this leadership purpose statement and how I should act to implement my purpose. In other words, the lessons help me understand how I will implement my techniques to achieve my purpose as a leader. Above all, the lesson of “personality” helped me to articulate the purpose statement authentically. In addition, encouraging teamwork and unity, which is a part of the military culture, and encouraging this new idea into people will require the process of re-socialization for…

When someone asks you, what do you think your strengths are, it is natural for us to try to make ourselves look good, especially if were applying for a job. I have learned while reading the article written by Peter Drucker, “Managing Oneself” that we are often wrong when it comes to what we think our strengths are (1999). For example, I use to believe I had good time management skills, but once I evaluated everything I did and how I used my time I learned that my time management skills were the complete opposite of what I originally thought. I used to say there is just not enough time in the day for me to do everything I wanted to do, yet the fact of the matter was, I was not using the time I did have wisely. While evaluating what I thought…

Introduction “Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.” — Vince Lombardi As I reflect on my leadership journey, I become more convinced with Vince that leaders are not born leaders, but are a result of a conscious effort to be one. While serving in various institutions in leadership positions, I have seen myself emerge to those positions through my hard work and skills rather than just having been assigned to it. Various factors like experience, training, mentorship, conscious practice and even failure have contributed in developing my leadership abilities.…
