It was a cold day in Fort Lee, and I was at the Jack Alter Community Center getting ready to play basketball. My team, the Hurricanes, was versing one of the best teams in the league. It was the fourth quarter and I was tired. We were down by five points with only 30 seconds left on the clock. “Boo!” The crowd was yelling at the referee in disappointment. I was fouled hard and went to the free throw line to shoot. By making both free throws, I put the game within two points. The other team brought up the ball and I got a steal. I quickly went to shoot a three pointer to win the game. “Clink.” The ball came off the back of the rim. Then I quickly woke up and realized that it was all a dream. I woke up and realized that it was Saturday, game day. I had one hour before the game began. I was exhilarated because the season was about to start again, but I was nervous because I didn’t know how well my team could play. I went outside and started to warm up. I kept talking to myself saying, “ You are going to be the best player on the court.” After getting a few …show more content…

After this shot, I thought I would have the best first game of my life, but I started to miss most of my shots.
The game started to move very quickly. It felt as if I was only playing for a minute, but there was only one quarter left. As you could have guessed, the game went to extra innings, we had two outs and the hitter before me nearly hit a homerun. It was one of those moments in a movie where the skinny kid who no one had faith in hits the walk off hit, winning the game and becoming the team's star. However, real life is not like a Disney movie, and any hope for my clutch last minute hit to advance us to the finals was swept away when I popped up the ball a mile high and was sent back to the dugout to contemplate my failure. I was extremely frustrated at myself, I spent the bus ride home quietly looking out the window, repeating the dreadful moment in my head, as the ball went straight up.…

I can remember like it was yesterday, when the championship game was on the line. Sweat dripping from my body likes wet towels being drench by hand. Fans’ shouting from both sides of the stands as the game is continuing on. The only thing that’s running through my mind is scoring the winning touchdown and all the fans celebrating with my team and I. Before the Quarterback snaps the ball, I took a deep breath as if it would have been my last and nod my head. The ball shoves into the Quarterback hand and everybody collide into each other like eighteen wheelers.…

Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

This year, my basketball team was in trouble because our best players and coach left. Practicing 6 days a week, we repeatedly stayed at school for 12 hours a day. Starting from scratch was difficult because it meant spending a plethora of time at the drawing board. Assigned point guard, I was forced to overcome my insecurities and, because I knew my team was counting on me, I pushed myself to become a better player.…
