However, I take only partial credit because my training in the legal industry demanded I learn to dissect, synthesis, and use critical thinking in my legal writing. The attorneys I worked for were very supportive of my career because I started so young. They told me that I would have made a good attorney, was a decent writer, and great researcher but there is always room for improvement. My plan to become a better writer is to embrace all the feedback I can receive from better writers. I was glad the assessment results placed me in this course and look forward to seeing an improvement in my writing using the feedback and tips provided by this course. My goal is to teach on an academic level and will need to have the confidence and knowledge to be able to edit student’s assignments. I am using the SMART method strategy to assist me in keeping focused on the goal of writing improvement (Bovend’Eerdt, Botell, Wade, 2008). Additionally, I am utilizing all the resources Walden University has to offer such as the writing center, writing webinars, and reading some books on tips to become better writers. It has been useful for me in previous courses to print out my graded essay to review the professor’s feedback and use it as a reference during subsequent writing
