The role of leadership is an essential aspect of an organization since it can determine the difference between success and failure. “Although leaders are gifted in different ways, with different personalities and varying skill sets, all leaders can grow, become more skillful, and become more competent so that they can achieve greater effectiveness” (Ledlow & Coppola, 2014, pp. 10). Leadership on the line by Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linksys is a very timely book. Maggie’s description of her Indian community and the effects of alcohol made me think of many urban communities and the pain that lurks in those communities. The stories she shares about Lois and the heart she had for her community and desire to make it better make you think we need more leaders like that. Lois leadership inspired me because she saw something wrong in her community she believed she could bring change. Lois is a good picture of servanthood she doesn’t sit and think someone should so something…

The main idea of the book I choose the book “Act like a leader, think like a leader, by Herminia Ibarra, which is inspirational read for everyone who has a passion for leading. Ibarra, redefines the traditional leadership notion of “think first, and then act’’ by acting first and then thinking. She described The “Outsight Principle” which is the mine idea of this book. Through the implementation of the “outsight principle”, Ibarra believes that one can improve or develop into an effective leader. This principle attests that the only way to think like a leader is to first act it out and that is to come out of ones’ comfort zone by start doing changes and more experiences.…

The particular management skills and theories that I found the most valuable as a team leader was a motivating theory called Theory Y. This theory stated that people are motivated if they are happy and willing to work. I wanted to make sure that everyone was happy with what they were doing and that they were satisfied. Another way to improve my team’s performance was to give a thorough feedback with information on how to improve. This would not only develop my team’s performance, but would enhance the behaviors of my team members as well.…

Introduction As I reflect on this course and the results of the Questionnaires, Reflection, and Action Worksheets I have learned many aspects of leadership. I have analyzed the definition of leadership and now have a clearer understanding of it. According to, Introduction to Leadership; concepts and practice, by Peter Northouse (2015), leadership can be composed of many variables such as relationship, trait, ability, skill, behavior, and influence process. He also elaborates on how the “leadership of an individual can be used to influence a group to accomplish a common goal”. In addition, he discusses how leadership is not the same as management (Northouse, 2015, pp. 3-7).…
