PAREXEL is a global organization with offices in over 60 countries. In recent years, there has been rapid growth in staff, primarily because of multiple acquisitions and new business growth, which in turn caused a significant increase in facility related projects. Each facility project has a great impact on local business units and customers, therefore project delivery on time and within budget is extremely important.
A big part of PAREXEL’s branch office project is a network and telecommunication infrastructure implementation, therefore I was directly or indirectly responsible for multiple projects in the APAC region. I noticed that there are similarities between projects and there are many ways to improve both IT architecture and project implementation process.
After discussion with my line manager, I created a proposal for IT

Overall, my proposal provided improvements to IT operational excellence and it created predictable implementation model and life cycle management for IT infrastructure in branch offices.
After I got an approval from management, I started to assemble a team which would give advice and feedback on technical and procedural matters. I involved engineers from various technical teams and geographical locations which provided an opportunity for consolidating dispersed knowledge and practices. The team started by creating definition what PAREXEL branch office is and we divided offices based on offices size: remote, small, medium, large and very large.
For each office size, the team prepared network, voice, systems, and security architecture design, together with various hardware, software and configuration details. We discussed the responsibilities for each stakeholder and we created an extensive list of activities together with primary and secondary
