Organizational Culture, analysis of the Lincoln Electric Company Case
In Brazilian law, we say that all people have personality, and this is a condition to all rights that come along. It is for this reason that plants and animals do not have rights in the Brazilian legal system, although they end up being protected for the sake of the environment.
Brought by the notion of personality, comes the personal characteristics. In Brazil we say that individuals are physical people, while companies and other organizations are legal people. In Mexico this classification receives a different name; physical people are called moral people, but have rights just the same.

People, who are motivated, tend to work harder to reach their goals. Disbelieving the processes within the company can be dangerous, because employees who feel obligated to abide to the organizational culture, work simply because of the fear of being unemployed, instead of in hopes of group achievements. “For example, if a company is in the high-tech industry, having a culture that encourages innovativeness and adaptability will support its performance. However, if a company in the same industry has a culture characterized by stability, a high respect for tradition, and a strong preference for upholding rules and procedures, the company may suffer because of its culture.” (Carpenter, Taylor, Erdogan, 2009, p.185).

Even thought Lincoln Electric Company’s philosophy was initially strongly influenced by the religious orientation of its owners, gospel messages have disappeared from the company’s slogans.
Initially its bases were founded in the ethic that has to be present in the life of a true Christian, but this belief can easily remain in the company without the need for any religious beliefs. The philosophy that was initially grounding the company’s mission kept strong, in spite of abandoning the religious branch. It could be said that one of the values supported by Lincoln is the People-Oriented Culture, since fairness is valued towards and among employees.
Lincoln Electric Company’s culture is known for being flexible, as explained before this characteristic favors innovativeness and adaptability, which are both good assets for high tech industries. As the world 's largest manufacturer of welding machines and electrodes, it is clear that this kind of attitude works in their favor.
Because of this, the company could never be mistaken for a Stable Cultured Organization, these are predictable, and built on solid rules that are kept alive by bureaucracy.
