Summary: Macleod shared the importance of human rights and cultural diversity. He argues that a reasonably comprehensive doctrine of universal human rights can be squared with what is known about the diversity of cultural beliefs and practices. Also, he developed the normatively persuasive arguments for human rights.
Relevance to Research Question: Although the article wasn't as much explicit, it was very helpful to me because it provides a clear statement of human rights and cultural diversity. Macleod develops a discussion of cultural diversity in the sphere of human rights to a level that is deeper than that which is allowed for by the usual and verbal opposition between "universalism" and "cultural diversity."
