Open Campus Lunches Essay

High schools all over the United States are debating where or not open campus lunches is a good idea. School lunch policies vary from school to school. High school students should be allowed to have an open lunch.
The school lunch food is a problem for some students. The food is not always the cheapest option for the students or the district. According to Duluth high school principals want to stick with open campuses, Duluth’s principal, Tonya Sconiers, does not want a closed campus because it will cost the school approximately $239,000 to have the necessities for every student to eat. Another problem with the lunch at school is that it is not very good. The food does not have very much taste, and there is never enough to last the entire school day. Numerous students are involved in activities after school and cannot perform their best until they have food in their stomachs. If schools allow students to leave school for lunch students are then responsible for getting back to school. Students need to gain trust before they start a job that no one sets limits too. Students that do not learn from their mistakes while they are in high school could have a significant impact on their lives after high school. Another opportunity that students gain from having an open lunch is time management skills. Students only have approximately thirty minutes to leave school, get food, and get back to school before their next period.
