The four spheres of influence that nurses can participate to influence policy are government, workforce and workplace, associations and interest groups (organization), and community (Porche, 2012; Mason, Gardner, Outlaw, & O’Grady, 2016). Mason et. al (2016) indicated that policy can be shaped in more than one sphere at a time, and action in one sphere can influence others. The first step before I can spark interest in policy development to my nursing peers is having the knowledge, skills, and experience about it.
