I selected to address team building which at the same time is very well related to the topic referring to communication. Team-building encompassess activities and actions used to develop professional or social relations while defining roles within the team (Salas, et al, 2008). Communication, on the other hand, as defined by The Merriam-Webster dictionary is: “an act or instance of transmitting information, written or verbal messages, a process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior” (Merriam-Webster, n.d.)
In healthcare the effectiveness of the team providing care to the patients is significant on the outcomes and the communication among professionals providing services

It is a very ambitious 80% of nurses with a BSN by 2020, but not impossible. Actually, the population we treat today is completely different than the one twenty years ago and as such the training nurses receive should be different, but not only related to medical conditions as to diversity and cultural background and we should be prepared for that to. We now face issues and complications not only pertaining to our patient’s diseases but his or her environment, personal and professional. We also need to be aware of more laws and regulations, requirements, patient-centered care and patient education than 20-30 years ago. Therefore, nurses should be educated and prepared to deal with all of that and beyond (Shalala, 2011). As following this path nurses will be better prepared for constant-looking for improvement system that demand up-to-date- knowledge to be part of the actual healthcare teams and be able to establish educated communication with colleagues and patients (AACN, …show more content…
First, produce competitive nursing leaders from all levels of care then partner with physicians and other healthcare professionals to achieve mutual goals improving patient care and health outcomes, while at the same time are able to identify and correct problems related to budgets, staffing issues, clinical practice, and policies and procedures as well. As a nurse, I fervently support nurses as leaders in healthcare organizations. Nurses are a large cadre of professionals that have a great opportunity of changing lives and contributing to major improvement in people’s lives and health outcomes. As educated leaders we can make a difference.
