Furthermore, Tom’s reaction to this situation highlights the importance of consequence based ethics and the importance of seeking the best possible health outcome for the patient. It is important that Tom refers to the Mandatory reporting process which involves nurses being obligated by the law to disclose confidential information in order to protect people within their care.
