However, with advancements with these printers and them becoming more affordable and accessible, it won’t be long before every household has one. Remember how crazy it was when we could video chat on our cell phones for the first time? Now it seems perfectly normal. News articles have frightened people about the problems that could arise from the use of 3D printers, but the benefits are going to far outweigh the negatives. 3D printers are being used as excellent educational tools for all subjects in schools and as a way for anyone to see their designs come to life. They are also becoming a great resource for all types of occupations in fields such are healthcare and engineering. 3D printing is allowing every day items to become more personalized for individuals. This emerging technology has the potential to enhance our lives in many ways. With any new technology, there will always be concerns. People are able to download and print guns without serial numbers and with no metal, making them untraceable. There will have to be laws and regulations put in place concerning 3D printing and downloading the files used for weapons. There are also concerns with copy write issues, so we will have to rethink and rewrite laws as the world’s technology advances. We have already done this with privacy laws with the internet.
