This means that approximately 34 percent of the population owns guns. These gun owners have made it clear that they will not surrender their guns willingly to anyone who attempts to confiscate them. Any gun control law would likely cause all these people to hide their guns rather than surrender them. Even though there are growing voices supporting gun control, the United States gun owning population is likely to expand in the next few years as new technologies emerge to make it cheaper and easier to obtain increasingly powerful guns. One of these technologies is the rapidly expanding field of 3D printing. Defense Distributed has successfully designed, printed, and fired the world’s first legal 3D printed firearm, The Liberator (“About DEFENSE DISTRIBUTED”). Regardless of these technologies, the most basic reason for Americans to fight for gun rights is found in Amendment II of the US Constitution which states “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”(US Const. amend.
