Narrative Essay About The Best Day

Improved Essays
Imagine the best day one could have! Where would one be and what would they be doing? Now, that image should be completely erased from the person’s mind. Because the story I am about to tell is neither happy nor fun. It was literally one of the worst days of my entire sixteen year old life. It all started on a pleasant Sunday morning in Houston, Mississippi. I woke up feeling groggy from the night before as I had stayed up later than I probably should have. I peeked outside my bedroom window to see the sun shining and hear the birds chirping a beautiful melody. “What could possibly go wrong on such a perfect day?,” I thought to myself. My best friend, Saige, and I were together as she had stayed the night with me. We had a rough night the …show more content…
Or I thought. Everything past that point was a blur and happened so quickly. I do remember being half way across the street when what felt like out of nowhere a black Nissan Altima ran into the side of my Jeep. I had lost complete control of my vehicle. I heard a loud crash and the sound of squealing tires. The sound of shattering glass echoed. Parts begin to fall. It was like a bad dream I could not wake myself from. After the initial impact, my vehicle kept rolling forward slowly until it came to a hesitant halt in between two light poles. I could have easily hit either one of them. As soon as I had processed what had just happened, I tried to get out of my Jeep but the door refused to open. I had to climb out of the passenger door. I immediately walked to the driver of the Altima and apologized profusely. I was almost in tears. I had never been so scared in my life. The driver of the Altima called 9-1-1 while I had to do what seemed like the most difficult thing ever… call my mother. My mother picked up the phone in mere seconds. I had no idea what to say I was in such a state of shock. All I could get out was, “I just had a wreck at McDonald’s.” Unfortunately, the police arrived before my mother did

It was a bright sunny Saturday morning, waking up hearing the birds chirping outside. The sun was shining through the windows throughout the house. I can remember sitting in the living room in a tan recliner facing the Tv. When I heard the phone ring the first time, it was around ten o’clock in the morning; I looked over to see my mom running to the home phone that used to sit on the desk in the laundry room. It rang three times before my mom answered.…

Exhilarating: a term making one feel very happy, animated, or elated, would be the perfect word to describe what the day had in store for us eager, and jubilant grade 6 students. A thrilled and luminous smile lit up on my enthusiastic face as I ambled on the same rugged, cracked, gray tinted sidewalk that I had sauntered on everyday for a year. The serene, endless sky was the perfect shade of aqua as the light, silky, radiant clouds formed delicate shapes. The sun was glistening with great luminosity. Suddenly I heard someone screaming my name well not really; it was my nickname, one that really agitated me in an incredibly obnoxious way, “Babikathu wait up”.…

The wind twists the limp, dangling branches of the willow tree. We lay, gazing upwards into the shifting leaves, backs resting on the softly slanted slope at the edge of the lagoon, toes playing with the grass, hair strewn as crowns around our heads. Laughter bubbles out of our lungs, the product of the pleasant summer’s day and the images our imaginations create from the simple words we speak. “What if willows ‘womped’? You know, like in Harry Potter?”…

My mind drew a blank as to how this happened, I felt something cold on my face, realizing I was crying my body released all the stress I had pent up. Reaching for the door, my body pushed as hard as imagined but did not succeed. I crawled out of the passenger side of my car and I was disoriented for a minute but realized what was going on. I slowly walked toward the driver's side of my car, my mirror was ripped off and halfway down the highway. The fender of my car was bent into my wheel, the tire was off the rim and the rim itself was bent and torn…

I looked up to my left and saw a guard rail with a river behind it, the car was heading towards it. My sister took control of the wheel and steered us the best she could towards the ditch. It was all green everywhere as the rear of the car hit the ditch first and spun us around, sending the front hitting the ditch as well. We spun around one more time, completing two 360’s. It might have been the wrong thought, but I was thinking about the airbags deploying at top speed, knocking us in the face, and injuring…

The Last Day Sweat was gleaming off my face as I finished lifting our couch into my mother’s van. It was a familiar action, we has always been moving around. We had held many houses for rent, each for one year at a time. We never stayed anywhere for long, presumably because nobody liked renting to single mothers with five kids. We were always drifters, seeking houses for rent and never having a permanent situation.…
