Personal Narrative Essay: My Experience In A Car Accident

Improved Essays
I had not ever been in a car accident before in my life, so when I experienced one, I did not enjoy nearly dying. It happened four years ago, I can still vividly remember everything. I was with my sister, Nakesha, she was driving since I was not old enough to drive yet. We were having a good day and had decided to go to my dad’s for a while to see him since our parents are divorced. We spent a considerable amount of time with our dad who kept making us laugh like he always does. I could not have imagined that the day could take a turn for the worse, but of course life throws everyone curveballs and we were about to face ours. Sadly, we said goodbye to our dad so we could go meet my mom’s side of the family at our aunt’s house for a family …show more content…
I looked up to my left and saw a guard rail with a river behind it, the car was heading towards it. My sister took control of the wheel and steered us the best she could towards the ditch. It was all green everywhere as the rear of the car hit the ditch first and spun us around, sending the front hitting the ditch as well. We spun around one more time, completing two 360’s. It might have been the wrong thought, but I was thinking about the airbags deploying at top speed, knocking us in the face, and injuring …show more content…
I went to hug my family because I wanted them to know I loved them a lot. My mom was still crying because she thought we had hit a car; a miscommunication on her part. I did not say anything about her crying because she was a scared mother, and she needed to just cry it out before she could feel better. When I was released from her hug, I watched as the kind man, whose house was near the wreck, and my dad come up with a plan to get the car out of the ditch and onto a car trailer. They both worked to get the hook somewhere on the car, so the winch could pull the car onto the trailer. Us, the bystanders were hoping for the best outcome, and it we got what we hoped for. The car was on the trailer and my dad and the man, who’s name wasn’t given to me, worked to see what was busted on the underside of the car. Apparently it was a lot because they came to the conclusion that the car could not run until all of it was fixed or it could catch on

When I ride it's like the earth stops at every corner so I can check to make sure a, loud, car isn't roaring towards me. It's like that feeling in your chest that tells you that everything is going to be ok, yet your mind is screaming at you that it won't be. I ride because I was thought that you need to be active in life, but it was never about the one hour of activity time we are supposed to have growing up. it was much more than that. I didn't need help to ride, I needed help to face down my enemies, or conquer my dreams.…

Personal Narrative rough draft : Car accident It was early in April of 2016, sunny and beautiful, the day was sure to be full of excitement and energy as student council speeches are due and the final trimester of the year was slowly coming to an end. I woke up that morning to my mother blissfully waking me up with my light turning on and her sweet beautiful voice saying “Wake up, Joey,” I slowly rolled out of bed and stumbled into the shower trying hopelessly to escape the morning and the horrible sensations of waking up early on a Wednesday. As the warm water rushed over me I rehearsed in my head how I would present my student council speech to my teacher. Little did I know how different it would actually be that day.…

After five hours under Mrs. Gonzalez’s 1997 Plymouth, my hands were so dirty I had to wash them ten times just to see my fingernails again. She was a familiar face around the shop, given that neighborhood thieves had routinely targeted her car. This time, though, they had gone too far. Someone had crawled underneath the car and cut out the valuable catalytic converter, and she couldn’t afford a replacement. When I looked at her and said, “That’ll be $563,” her face turned pale.…

One problem with my car is that it looks terrible. The once-shiny paint is now dull and bleached from road salt, there are patches of rust around the wheel wells and fenders. There is a dent in the passenger door that someone left while I was grocery shopping last year, and ever since another student hit my car in the school parking lot, the trunk latch has not worked, and I have had to tie it down with a cord. Furthermore, the interior of my car is no better than the exterior. The carpet is stained from years of carrying around two kids and a dog, and the upholstery is torn in several places.…

Mindset Essay ` In life I have always had dreams. When I was little, I always wanted to play in the NBA, or be a superhero just like your average little boy would. As I progressed through my teenage life everything began to become so real, I begin to realize my past dreams would never become true and that I then had to become more realistic about what I really wanted to do with my life. On August 6th, 2013 something happened in my life that made me realize just what I wanted to do with my life. From then on, I knew it wasn't going to be easy and that I would need a growth mindset if I ever wanted to reach my dreams of becoming a highway patrol officer.…

My first car was something that I greatly was looking forward to getting as a child and my interest in getting one grew, as the days got closer to my sixteenth birthday. The first car I owned was a Automatic Black 2004 Ford f-150 truck, which I discovered on a website called Craigslist. It was priced at five thousand nine hundred dollars with only eighty-four thousand miles on it, which in my case was great considering that I could only afford a seven thousand dollar car. The truck came with all manual locks and windows and also had a small amount of hail damage that could really only be seen at a certain angle. But even with reasonable price on the truck I still attempted to negotiate for an even lower price to further my luck.…

After we woke up, we went to a close park where we always hang out with family and friends and I was ready to ride my bike. I had my gloves, helmet, and kneepads ready if I felt from my bike and sadly this is what happened. Honestly, I blamed a dog that crossed in front of me but it was my lack of experience and that it was my first bike ride ever. As soon my father saw me laying on the floor crying really loud, he extended his arms and hold me while at the same time he told me something that I would remember for a life time: you are okay son just remember that men don’t cry. This last words…
