Once in a while, my parents tells stories of their childhood growing up in Mexico. I often feel sad that we are so far away from our roots and our family, but at the same time I am incredibly thankful for having been allowed the opportunity to live in the United States. The biggest part of our culture for me is the food, because my mother often prepares traditional food, and she has even taught me how some recipes are prepared. My family and I are also part of St. Thomas Moore, a Catholic church with an overwhelming majority of Hispanics. Being part of this community has allowed us to stay in touch with our culture by celebrating mass in our native tongue and recreating tradition from a variety of Hispanic cultures. I will always keep my culture alive through the things my parents taught me and by continuing to participate in the Hispanic
