Of the five profiles I read, the person whose style of leadership I most admire is Nancy Dubuc. Dubuc is the chief executive of A&E Networks, and her adaptable, encouraging and organization-oriented management style make her a noteworthy leader. Before joining A&E Networks, Dubuc worked as a manager at a television production company for five years. At this job, Dubuc managed the logistics of production more than the creative aspects. Over time, Dubuc’s role in the creative process expanded, and she was hired as a development executive for A&E. Currently, she serves as President and CEO of A&E Networks, which includes A&E, Lifetime, History, LMN, FYI and Viceland.

While constructive conflict is an essential component of team productivity, destructive conflict is a source of team dysfunction. Dubuc avoids this dysfunction by valuing employees who offer constructive, problem-solving suggestions and disapproving unoriginal, negative feedback. “Anyone can have an opinion about what’s wrong with something. I can’t stand the pile-on effect when something didn’t work,” says Dubuc.
