I feel reading other people’s paper is very helpful. I can have a chance to see other people’s ideas, how they transfer one idea to another, the way they organize the paper and things that maybe missing in my paper. I learn that writing does not just give a thesis statement and write few evidence to support it, expand ideas is very important. I also learn thesis need to be specific, arguable and supportable. I also learn the proper way to write an introduction and a conclusion. Such as in the end of the conclusion, I need to leave something for the reader to think about. One of my biggest problems is procrastination. As I stated in my first paper, I start my writing process “with procrastination, something I do often that uses most of my time…I just can’t get myself to focus on writing that well” (“Is There a Right Way?”). It delays me from getting into my writing, which could probably be a lot better than it is right now if I could get myself to concentrate. Procrastination also doesn’t give me enough time to really think about the assignment, what it’s asking of me, what I think about it, and what I could talk about. Another change necessary to improve my writing, is that I need to better consider all the ideas in my first drafts so that I can try to expand and connect them, and to find the best ideas for what I’m trying to say.…

The writing process has a lot of steps; some of those steps worked well for me such as: generating ideas, listing supporting ideas and details, and drafting. The only reason for why it worked well is because, I just have to write freely, and randomly without any care even if I wrote some unnecessary and meaningless ideas. The same also goes when I draft; grammar, organization, and spelling were the least of my problems because, first drafts are not perfect. However, there are steps that have not worked well for me; for the reason that, doing those steps took me a long time to do. Those steps are polishing, and forming a good topic sentence; they took me almost an hour and a half to finish.…

Writing has not been my favorite thing because it takes me ages to complete a single page paper. But for the second assignment, I started to write everything out without giving too much attention for small errors, and I am able to write a lot faster. Of course, my first draft is not as it used to be, but I can go back correct my errors at any time. In addition, my big problem was that I would always start from the beginning and work my way down. However, if I stalled on the introduction which I always tried to make it attractive, I would stop the whole and leave the work for later.…

There are many causes of writer’s block, and many strategies to overcome it. Begin a paper with prewriting and outlining to avoid writer’s block. Try starting in a place other than the introduction of the paper. If the topic is not interesting, choose a personal aspect of it. Write your ideas down on the paper, regardless of their quality.…

The most crucial step of my writing processes is letting my mind go wild and my fingers move freely. Whenever I write anything, I always let myself write whatever is on my mind at that exact second. Even if it doesn’t make 100% sense or isn’t exactly on topic, I’ll type it out. When I was writing my essay, I didn’t stop to fix anything until the very end. When I finished writing, I looked for mistakes.…

Have You Developed a System of Writing That Works Most of The Time I really have not looked up different styles of writing let alone realized there was so many different types of it. My method is not necessarily a method per se, I have always for the longest time just wrote down as if I was speaking to someone. That to me was where my biggest praise came from, that I was able to write with such voice and was able to emulate my presence through the pages. When writing for an essay there is a period where I read and reread the question to gather all the information that is needed. Once the question is fully understood, I try to explain myself in full detail.…

When entering college and finishing my first essay, I realized my process wasn’t good enough in order to write a good essay. When doing my first narrative and comparing my narrative to the article “Thirty-eight who saw murder,” my process was reading thoroughly over the article and writing a reading report of the reading which it was included in the beginning of my introduction as seen in the image below. Afterwards, I just started finishing my introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. In addition, when finishing my first draft I revised it as well as from my instructor as shown in the black marks below. From the individual conference with my instructor, it is shown in the image that I needed to fix almost my whole introduction.…

My overall writing skills are fair, but there is room for improvement. From an early age I was always required to write short essays. Growing up my brother and I had to read an article from the newspaper on a daily basis and we were required to give a short report on what we read. On occasion, it had to be written. Therefore, my critical thinking and writing is well developed.…

When acquiring new skills, I usually think to myself, “How is this skill going to come in handy when I enter the working world?” If I cannot think of any purpose for knowing the skill, then I tend to forget about it. For example, I do not see any using for knitting except to pass the time and I do not plan on taking a class about how to knit anytime soon. One thing I do think is important to learn and always improve on would be my writing skills. I figure no matter where my career takes me whether it be on stage, backstage, or even being a stay at home mom I will always be writing.…

In the past semester some specific areas as a writer, which I have improved at Chaminade for the past two years would be my ability to write and analyze text, finding different meaning hidden within texts. I have also improved at explaining why things are the way they are in texts and backing up my opinions with given facts. The main thing that I need to improve with my writing is to not rush writing and to make sense of what I am saying. I have trouble making sense sometimes when I write, either the grammar is out of place, or my wording choice could be better.…

Writing has always been a struggle for me for as long as I can remember. I find it difficult to put my thoughts on a paper, especially if I have to do it in another language. Some people think that as long as they can speak a language or communicate with other people, it is enough. However, these people are totally wrong. People do not only need to speak a language fluently, but they also have to be able to write it.…
