One of my biggest problems is procrastination. As I stated in my first paper, I start my writing process “with procrastination, something I do often that uses most of my time…I just can’t get myself to focus on writing that well” (“Is There a Right Way?”). It delays me from getting into my writing, which could probably be a lot better than it is right now if I could get myself to concentrate. Procrastination also doesn’t give me enough time to really think about the assignment, what it’s asking of me, what I think about it, and what I could talk about. Another change necessary to improve my writing, is that I need to better consider all the ideas in my first drafts so that I can try to expand and connect them, and to find the best ideas for what I’m trying to say.…

I tend to not put my sentences together as carefully as I could. When I take more time in my writing to look things over and make sure that everything is correct I usually turn out with a better paper. It is also just as important to stay on topic and not to get lost and sidetracked in a different area of the paper. When I have someone else read over may paper it makes it easier for me to see my weak areas and my stronger areas of writing. Sometimes taking a break from writing and putting your mind into something else also helps.…

The writing process has a lot of steps; some of those steps worked well for me such as: generating ideas, listing supporting ideas and details, and drafting. The only reason for why it worked well is because, I just have to write freely, and randomly without any care even if I wrote some unnecessary and meaningless ideas. The same also goes when I draft; grammar, organization, and spelling were the least of my problems because, first drafts are not perfect. However, there are steps that have not worked well for me; for the reason that, doing those steps took me a long time to do. Those steps are polishing, and forming a good topic sentence; they took me almost an hour and a half to finish.…

The most crucial step of my writing processes is letting my mind go wild and my fingers move freely. Whenever I write anything, I always let myself write whatever is on my mind at that exact second. Even if it doesn’t make 100% sense or isn’t exactly on topic, I’ll type it out. When I was writing my essay, I didn’t stop to fix anything until the very end. When I finished writing, I looked for mistakes.…

Have You Developed a System of Writing That Works Most of The Time I really have not looked up different styles of writing let alone realized there was so many different types of it. My method is not necessarily a method per se, I have always for the longest time just wrote down as if I was speaking to someone. That to me was where my biggest praise came from, that I was able to write with such voice and was able to emulate my presence through the pages. When writing for an essay there is a period where I read and reread the question to gather all the information that is needed. Once the question is fully understood, I try to explain myself in full detail.…

When entering college and finishing my first essay, I realized my process wasn’t good enough in order to write a good essay. When doing my first narrative and comparing my narrative to the article “Thirty-eight who saw murder,” my process was reading thoroughly over the article and writing a reading report of the reading which it was included in the beginning of my introduction as seen in the image below. Afterwards, I just started finishing my introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. In addition, when finishing my first draft I revised it as well as from my instructor as shown in the black marks below. From the individual conference with my instructor, it is shown in the image that I needed to fix almost my whole introduction.…

In the past semester some specific areas as a writer, which I have improved at Chaminade for the past two years would be my ability to write and analyze text, finding different meaning hidden within texts. I have also improved at explaining why things are the way they are in texts and backing up my opinions with given facts. The main thing that I need to improve with my writing is to not rush writing and to make sense of what I am saying. I have trouble making sense sometimes when I write, either the grammar is out of place, or my wording choice could be better.…
