My Writing Process Analysis

Decent Essays
The most crucial step of my writing processes is letting my mind go wild and my fingers move freely. Whenever I write anything, I always let myself write whatever is on my mind at that exact second. Even if it doesn’t make 100% sense or isn’t exactly on topic, I’ll type it out. When I was writing my essay, I didn’t stop to fix anything until the very end. When I finished writing, I looked for mistakes. I’ve learned over the years that writing is a lot easier when you stop focusing on achieving perfection. I still concentrate on the task at hand, but I don’t dwell on every little detail being superlative. It’s futile to stop and check every single sentence to make sure that everything is flawless. Writing isn’t about being right or wrong.

I find this part hard because there is times where I don’t know what I need to change to make the writing better. Usually after the first draft I get stuck and don’t know how what I have to change or add. Something that I do like is to get feedback from other people. I tend to not put my sentences together as carefully as I could. When I take more time in my writing to look things over and make sure that everything is correct I usually turn out with a better paper. It is also just as important to stay on topic and not to get lost and sidetracked in a different area of the paper. When I have someone else read over may paper it makes it easier for me to see my weak areas and my stronger areas of writing. Sometimes taking a break from writing and putting your mind into something else also helps.…

In regards to my writing process, there have been some central strategies that I have developed over time and some strategies that I have had for as long as I can remember. For example, one skill that I have developed from high school has been to annotate, mark up, and take notes throughout my readings. I found that taking notes really helps me, not only to remember what I read but to go back and be able to point out something in my reading easily. In addition, it helped me understand the readings better.…

I do write every once in a while, so I have somewhat of an idea of what my writing style would be. Varied; that is my writing style. When I write I try to explain myself as clearly as possible with my ideas. However, when I write about questions I have and things I wonder about I tend to write in a mysterious tone. When my friends ask for a letter of advice or thoughts on certain issues they are having I get deep and dramatic.…

Personally, my weakness would always be forming the structure and have the same style of writing. With the cycles from EliReview, it allowed me to explore other student’s writings, which makes me realize other styles I can incorporate into my writing. In addition, I noticed my structure of writing improved exponentially due to the fact the cycle required the second draft in the same week, forcing me to edit my draft, which results in improvement of my writing structure. I did not include an essay for the portfolium project, but if I was to include one it would definitely be the Review Annotated Bibliography 2 as it was my second time writing a similar assignment, which would make it my strongest essay. This is not only my strongest essay,…

If I was writing a paper that required a specific number of paragraphs or pages I would typically plan my paper using the four square method. If I was writing an important paper I would write a rough draft, then as I was typing it I would revise it and fix any mistakes I found. One thing that remained consistent in my writing process, no matter the type of paper, is after I wrote the paper I would try to find more grade level appropriate words instead of the simple words I originally used. While writing essays for this class I came to find it is better to combine my writing processes to write the best possible essay I could. I found the best steps for me to take in writing my paper are to write my ideas down in some form.…
