Writing has not been my favorite thing because it takes me ages to complete a single page paper. But for the second assignment, I started to write everything out without giving too much attention for small errors, and I am able to write a lot faster. Of course, my first draft is not as it used to be, but I can go back correct my errors at any time. In addition, my big problem was that I would always start from the beginning and work my way down. However, if I stalled on the introduction which I always tried to make it attractive, I would stop the whole and leave the work for later. I’m that kind of person that loves to highlight the important details of someone else’s information so I can admire her or his work in my papers. Then after finding the right amount of work to compose my own paper I start out with a title page.…

Learning to write When I attended elementary school, part of the curriculum was penmanship. There was a certain segment of instruction dedicated to penmanship rather than writing. We were given large sheets of oat colored paper with three parallel lines widely spaced. The alphabets were used to print and write in cursive using the midpoint, and upper lines for capital letters. The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

To me, writing is just ok, nothing special. It definitely isn’t something I get excited about. My first formal writing class was in 6th grade, where we followed The Institute for Excellence in Writing’s curriculum. My fellow classmates and I mainly wrote short, 1-3 paragraph reports on various historical topics. I did well in these classes, I just never really enjoyed the process of writing.…

Coming to the realization that an incomplete paper can help with the overall flow and fit of the assignment really helped me. The amount of writing I used to have to do after completing the paper has been reduced. The process of incrementally completing the entire paper from a first draft to complete has helped immensely for large writing assignments. These writing concepts helped to strengthen my writing method and made writing less of a chore for…

I believe my writing process has improved over the last 4 months. Through both English 105 and English 106 I have greatly improved my writing ability starting with the “freewriting” process that allows me to get everything I am thinking down on paper in broad strokes. I usually try to do this at least twice during the first part of the weekly assignments. Once I feel I have focused my core message, I usually outline how I want the writing to transition, and what are the reasons or beliefs that led me to the message of the writing. After everything is outlined I would transition to my rough draft process.…

And of course what goal did I want to achieve at the end of it all. I also made a list that I wrote on major topics that I was interested in sharing so as to choose that which suits me best. Finally, I made a draft, this helped me organize my ideas or thoughts steps by step so as to avoid any form of confusion. It also helped get motivated in talking about the major highlights in the paper. Finally, I revised my work so as to do away with what was unnecessary and add what was necessary.…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. At the end of the semester I hope that I have relearned some key writing elements that lack of practice has caused me to lose.…
