My Reflection As A Writer

Writing Reflection
Writing is like a complicated journey of emotion and feeling.
As a writer I am like worm in a cocoon waiting to become free and reach my full potential as a writer. In the past semester some specific areas as a writer, which I have improved at Chaminade for the past two years would be my ability to write and analyze text, finding different meaning hidden within texts. I have also improved at explaining why things are the way they are in texts and backing up my opinions with given facts. The main thing that I need to improve with my writing is to not rush writing and to make sense of what I am saying. I have trouble making sense sometimes when I write, either the grammar is out of place, or my wording choice could be better.

Project 2 Toni Morrison, bell hooks, and James Baldwin are all writers, professionals crafting fully realized people living in black and white, and poetically weave humor and personal tragedy into their essays about injustice. In the past, I always avoided calling myself a writer because I simply could not compare with them or their contemporaries. Throughout the years, I realized that forbidding myself from using that title was not a humble act, but instead, limiting myself from strengthening my writing through making excuses. Writing did not come naturally to me. I could do the bare minimum.…

Throughout my academic career, I have taken and been successful in a large number of English classes. In high school, my writing followed an academic format, mostly writing towards a prompt. Although I was able to gain writing practice, I never received a large amount of feedback that I could use to help myself in the future. Similarly, when I started college I practiced different forms of academic writing, structured around a prompt and focused on the end goal of a good grade. However, in college I was able to start gaining useful feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of my writing that I could apply to later assignments.…

Throughout the course of the semester, my ability as a writer has increased at a slight level. The semester began on a rough patch with my initial submission of assignment one, but that was quickly resolved in my revisions. Since that point, my grades have been relatively similar. I would accredit this improvement to the feedback I received on the first assignment, although some of my faults could be seen in the next assignment as well. Since that point, however, my writing has been relatively consistent.…

In high school, my teachers never had me write reflections on any of my work; therefore, I thought it was quite odd that I had to do it for this course. At the start of the semester, I did not see the point in writing reflections and really did not put much effort into them. I started to see the value in writing reflections as the semester progressed. I started to see that reflecting on my work benefits the reader and myself. Reflections allow the reader to see my thoughts on my process and writing; furthermore, reflections allow me to think about problems I encountered and how I worked past them and show my progression as a writer.…

I am very thankful for taking this course as I feel I have vastly improved in multiple areas of my communication. I had never taken a course that involved writing a paper and then presenting a speech on it to the class. It was either one or the other, not both. That is what intrigued me to take this course before the semester started. For myself great strides were made in my ability to convince readers through the toulmin model, learned in this course.…

The writing process is different and unique to all individuals; many people follow the ideal steps of prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing as opposed to others taking shortcuts, skipping steps, and going straight to editing. The writing process is the course one takes to get from prewriting to the publication of their essay; since everyone is a different, their writing process will also be different. For me, I believe that following the ideal writing process steps are a tremendous help to organizing my essay and spacing out the work throughout the time the assignment is assigned. To begin writing an essay I must first prewrite; to prewrite is to brainstorm ideas from the prompt by outlining, diagramming, clusterings, or…

Writing There are many different methods and mechanics of writing, and frankly, I 'm not an expert of these skills. I have the ability to write, however, I lack the ability to write clearly. My thoughts on a normal writing assignment; more specifically and argumentative essay just flourish out of my head, like a hose that that can never be turned of. The clarity of my writing reflects both the organization of my writing as well as how I comprehend and receive ideas. The way I will will increase my writings clarity, is by thinking about the subject first and then go on to making an outline.…
