Mussell and Ms. Potts demonstrated an effectively controlled physical education class. It was clear that the women had established a clear routine and expectations for their classes prior to the observed class. During the lesson, the teachers demonstrated effective classroom management by having students sit in the center of the gym while instructions were being given. When splitting up into teams the students were instructed to stand on a line in the gym, then they were counted off to make two teams; this was an effective and time efficient strategy for the lesson. Expectations for appropriate behavior and play were established in the instructions for the day, and these were effectively reinforced by both teachers throughout the activity. Few reminders had to be given about rules or behavior, therefore the management of the class was completely effective. I did not witness any ineffective classroom management techniques during this physical education class. Ineffective classroom management could have resulted in a chaotic and potentially dangerous activity in the class, so providing effective management is essential. In regards to teaching the lesson, the co-taught activity was efficient. When one teacher was talking, the other was attentive and quiet, setting an example of proper listening.
