Johnston establishes control over her classroom. For example, when a student speaks out of turn once instead of telling them that they need to be quiet, Mrs. Johnston tells them to keep it in their head with a rather harsh tone. I believe that this is not an effective classroom management technique because, the students in the classroom are in first grade there for they are rather young and still trying to figure out how to behave in classrooms. While I have been observing there has been numerous times that while Mrs. Johnston has been trying to do a lesson and she picks on students to answer questions, the students have no idea what has been going on or even what they needed to of said. For example, the class was going over what three characteristics a sentence needed in order to be a sentence.
