The students prior knowledge will consist of prior ball handling skills; ability to dribble the ball, pass & catching along with following directions that are provided orally and modeled by the teacher. Guide to inclusive physical education

General Information:
Lesson Subject: Physical Education
Topic: Fitness Games
Grade: 3rd Grade
Instructional Setting:
There are 17 students; 2 with moderate disability, 3 gifted and 2 ELL’s. Visual aides (posters & pictures are displayed on the chalk board & walls of the classroom. During Guided and Independent practice, students will be participating in an open space, returning to the desk to complete the assessment work sheet.

Standards: Virginia State Standards
3.5 The student will identify and participate regularly in physical activities to improve skills and personal health. b) Identify one physical activity that he/she participates in regularly for fitness enjoyment, and/or social interaction.

Lesson Objectives:
During the guided practice the student will be able to correctly name activities that can improve personal health with 90% accuracy.

After completing the guide practice activity, students will be able to construct their own dance exercise with 90%

“In keeping healthy and strong, can someone tell me how many minutes a day do we need to be active?” If no one has the answer, then provide a few times & allow the students to take a guess (i.e. 10 minutes, 25 minutes, 30 minutes or 60 minutes).

To keep you guys active, healthy and strong you need to be active for 60 minutes a day. Studies have concluded that being active for about 60 minutes a day can boost your academic performance, increase concentration & allow better focus, and improve classroom attendance and behavior.

B. “There are three basic parts of physical fitness that you use daily when you are playing outside at the playground, playing at home, at the park etc…”

1. Endurance - Playing tag or who “it”(running away or running after) 2. Strength - crossing monkey bars 3. Flexibility - stretching or bending down to tie your shoes.
