My initial and only purpose when I enrolled into the course was to be a more competent presenter in delivering business presentations, but little did I knew I will achieve so much more than this. In the first day of class, we were told to list down the characteristics of our ideal persona, a projection of our aspired self. When I was asked this question, only one person came to mind, Jenn Im, a YouTuber that creates her content around fashion and lifestyle. She has the combination of characteristics that together create my ideal persona, which is a caring, genuine, intelligent, and unique individual. Like many professors, instructors, and organizations in UBC mentioned before, stepping away from my comfort zone is the only way to grow and become the best version of myself. Despite having heard this advice many times during my time in Sauder, I personally believe completing this course has been the only academic achievement that really pushed me to go out of my comfort zone. Throughout the term, I have learned many valuable lessons through the concepts that are thought in class, however, I believe the main takeaways are the things that are not listed in the slides and not said in class. These are the things that I discovered through my downfalls. I realized that to make that strong stage presence and build a connection with the audience, I have to find my own voice and believe in myself to connect with others. Reflecting back, I have always doubted my ability to build connections with people in my life, which has affected the relationships in my life negatively.
