- 10 points: What were the 3-5 presentations that really stood out to you as well done (excluding your own presentation)? Why did they stand out, what did they do differently? The most distinctive element that made presentations stand out from others were passion. For example, the presentations about Drake combined humor and a true love for a music performer which truly changed my opinion of Drake. I possessed a negative stigma of Drake but the presenter brought in relatable human commonalities to portray Drake as more of a humanitarian. Although I am personally not a fan of the rap genre and generally have a negative opinion of all rappers, the presenter portrayed his opinion is such a way that it was difficult not to regard Drake in high …show more content…
I understood that the audience was going to be listening to presentations for 50 minutes, therefore I was aware that if I used slides with a large quantity of words they were not going to be read by the audience. I found that the audience responded best to brief and conscious bullet points, three main overall ideas, and interesting images. The audience will not desire to read a large amount of information off the powerpoint so I really tried to maintain brief points in bold font throughout the presentation. Overall, a presenter must be aware their audience is not going to retain all the information, so instead of trying to force information upon the listener, it's best to leave them with three main overall ideas that they actually have a chance of remembering. Lastly, for both my presentations I found that it would highly aid the audience to utilize appropriate images, not only did these add value to the presentation but it kept the audience interested.
- 10 points: How did taking this course help you develop your presentation? What were 3-5 things that you learned in the course that helped shape your presentation? (List and briefly explain) Overall this course really helped develop my confidence and ability to give presentations. I think the greatest takeaways from this course in terms of presentation are being passionate about a topic, speaking from knowledge not from memorization, the audience will sense the level of confidence, being unique is memorable, and rehearsal truly does make the presentations better.

My outside speaker critique I attended a class where my introduction to supply chain management professor brought in Andrew Goltra who is currently the Director of Merchandising at ULine. Andrew’s presentation took about an hour or so. Andrew Goltra was a very good speaker, but there was definitely some room for improvement based off what I have learned about with presentation best practices. I could have a long list of both good and bad aspects during his presentation, but for the sake of this assignment I’m going to focus on five aspects from his speech that involved both good and bad practices. The pros of Andrew Goltra’s presentation include: how he established his credibility, usage of visual aids, and his delivery; The cons of the presentation…

I would have. The reason I would have let Paul go by his request is because no business needs an individual that treats their workers the way he does and because of his insubordination towards higher ups. His actions during the meeting should show you the way he carries himself at work. Ways businesses are dealing with these situations are by making sure to document all interactions with employees. Also companies are stepping up the way they recruit employees.…

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

The guest speaker, Michael Skilnik, really stood out for me. First of all, my heart reaches out to Michael to talk to the class about his addictions. I cannot imagine how hard that would have been. During his talk, I began to get frustrated when Michael brought up that his teacher gave him candy and then started banging him. When I was in high school, my best friend encountered something similar just in different context.…

The third best presentation was Teenage Drinking and Driving by Hayley Breitschuh. She made it very personal by adding the story about the crash at Stoney Creek. It was in the logos style because it gave more facts than stories and it was in the Rogerian style because the other side of the argument is completely wrong. A counter argument would be that teen drunk driving is okay because it was their decision to drink in the first place. The audience it would be for is teenagers and their…

The content material that stood out to me most this week of that of the Ted Talk of the experiences of Japanese Americans during the war and also the experiences of Native Americans. I think this is extremely beneficial to my learning process as I frequently consider the perspectives of the African American and Latino population, but rarely are the experiences of Asian Americans and Native Americans at the forefront of my mind. In addition, the Classroom Divided was also impactful as I have also seen videos with Jane in the past and her work is greatly depicts the oppression and discrimination experiences by minority groups. The usage of the blue eyed vs brown eyed people experiment is extremely powerful and a great representation of what…

English composition was never my strong nor favorite because of my knowledge of the grammar and organization in my writing. Taking English 101 is a jump start for me, because last year of high school my teacher focused primarily on English literature. The course has introduced me to rhetorical analysis, and swatching (imitating author argument). Throughout the semester and all of the papers written I can say that it was a good experience to write at a college level and the expectation from college professors is good for future courses that involve writing essays.…

Two classes met this goal, Introduction to Psychology (PSY 111) taken at Anne Arundel Community College, and Introduction to Counseling Psychology (PSYC 432) taken at the University of Maryland University College. Introduction to Psychology was the first psychology course I took many years ago. It was the class I took because I had an empty slot on my schedule.…

In this class I learned about how to be a better team member. This semester I was reminded of how important communication is and how people need to keep emphasizing it as one of the most important skills any person could possesses. The personality test was useful, I think it gave all of us a good way to start to see how everyone is different. Sometimes one member could not come to practice, sometimes another member could not. Another negative element was choosing topic because three members of my group had three different ideas. It was hard to choose one topic that every member of our group likes. Experience that we gained…

Community engagement is extremely important within any community.
