My Future Career Goals And Requirements For A High School History Teacher

For my future career, I have decided to research the job tasks, pay scale, and requirements for a high school history teacher. I chose this particular career for a number of reasons. History is one of my passions and I knew that I desired to work in a field that pertains to them. I also feel that going into education could entail positive changes for both myself and the current system. Finally, one of my advanced placement teachers in high school motivated me to follow this career path. As a child, I have considered becoming either a veterinarian because I love animals or a paleontologist. Within the daily responsibilities of high school education, a teacher must enforce and establish rules of behavior for his/her students. He or she teach classes through lectures, introducing discussions, demonstrations, and handing out assignments. A high school teacher also adapts the methods used in the classroom to fulfill the needs of both the students and the school in general. As for working conditions, high school teachers tend to during official school hours and around 10 months each year. They have to cope with a stressful environment due to potentially large classes, accountability for the supplies required in the classroom, and disrespectful immature students. In order to pursue this career field, it is required that a potential candidate complete a bachelor’s degree and major in the specific subject that he or she wants to teach.
