If you ask anyone to think of someone who had an influence on them, they will almost always remember a teacher, someone who guided them possibly making them who they are today. Teachers help change the world. On the other hand, if I choose to become an engineer the impact I could have on the community, and its youth will not be lost. Lastly, it is crucial “to inspire children, starting in preschool, to be lifelong learners in STEM” (Duncan 1). In order to accomplish this, teachers have the ability to assign exciting chemistry labs or teach students how to apply math to something they are interested in. If you would ask a “world class” engineer if they established any connections over the years, they would probably say dozens.
