It’s finally here! I’m graduating! I am so excited and relieved at the same time. Today is our first day of graduation practice. We are so excited that we are doing little practice and more talking, laughing, jumping up and down, and crying tears of joy. We know in a few months some of us will be in other states and cities furthering our education. We’re in the hot gymnasium full of bleachers, basketball goals, and a brown stage going over the seating arrangement and program for graduation. The Bahamas were all I could think about. The sandy beaches, the extravagant cruise ship, all the food you can eat, and just having a good time. That is until I heard my name being called over the intercom to meet with the senior counselor. I didn’t think anything of it until she handed me a sheet of paper with my grades on it. I can’t believe I might not graduate! When I heard my name being called over the intercom to report to the senior counselor’s office I was nervous and my hands were beginning to get a little nervous. It felt as if my knees were buckling as I was walking down the hall. I wasn’t even aware of who the senior counselor was or what his or her name was because I had never spoken to or seen her my entire senior year! I finally located the counselor’s office. I walked into this dim lit room with cream color walls, dark wood furniture, and pictures of her family on her bookshelf.
