How I Spent My Working Time Sheet Analysis

Superior Essays
Three years ago, I started my career, and I was extremely enthusiastic to the extent that I spent most of my time at work. During the first 4months, I used to go from the early morning and stay there till night. At the beginning, I was happy that I perform well and my manager was proud of my work. However, it was not until the end of the fifth month when I felt depressed due to overwork. I hated that my life is all about work, and I do not have any time to spend with my family or at least with myself; I stopped meeting my friends and talking to them. I even stopped the volunteer work and other activities I used to do which made me feel worthless and had no purpose in life. The weekend was just one day on which I have to finish a lot of responsibilities …show more content…
Also, I never neglect my role in my friends’ lives when they need me to be there, so this is an essential part of my personal life as well. However, still it is easy to keep track of this part of my life going and manage it well by specifying time to it. The challenge will raise if I decided to get married and have children which will affect my management to all of my responsibility. If that happened, I would manage my time differently to ensure that my personal life takes the proper care it needs. Especially if I got children, I might take a part time job to take care of them in their first years till they be in the age of school. Nevertheless, I am sure that I will get depressed too if my life is only about house and raising good children. Therefore, I believe my concern will be to keep the balance between both of them, work and personal life, and to have some time for myself as well. I always have a busy life full of responsibilities and tasks towards …show more content…

Therefore, I try to keep myself away from falling into the trap of marginal cost theory. I did it before when I quitted working in medical equipment industry, and I will not hesitate to do it again if I found myself in a situation that could make me look at the marginal cost of the situation and say “just this once”. I do admit that I have once been unable to stop my manager from doing one of the marketing strategies that I consider unethical, but that may be my fault that I did not make sure that the values of the company I work for is similar to mine. I have learned the lesson from Betty Vinson situation in WorldCom Inc. when she was influenced by her manager pressure and her responsibilities towards her family to agree with what he asked her to do and rationalized it using the marginal cost theory by saying to herself “just this once”. Therefore, I plan to not allow anything affect my values and do the right thing whatever the cost is. I am sure that it will not be that easy to apply this strategy, but happiness and satisfaction that comes from doing the right thing is worth the challenge and the struggles I may
