My hair is standing up and my head is spinning. I show up, I work hard, I go home. My day starts again. The three things that I think burn teachers out the most is over scheduling in your family life, Too much paperwork, and expectations that the children can never meet and their teachers.
I believe that family life is very important. Your spouse is a commitment you willingly made and your children will always be that twinkle in your eyes. However, the last minute errands to the store. The week nights of rushing home to feed your family dinner so you can get someplace else can add stress. Stress that leads to guilt when you feel your family is struggling. While between the running and basic housework you are barely keeping up. Just simply making

Notes to parents, curriculum alignment, grading papers, and clearing all the miscellaneous paperwork that piles up on your desk. You finish and it continues all over. It’s kind of like laundry never ending. With the amount of paperwork that gets added just for records that never really get looked at in the long run, and is just more work and paper being used that amounts to nothing. When can we cut out the useless paperwork and just let a child be a child and play and have us there for them ready to help. Instead we have to say hold on while I finish up this paperwork that is all about you and more important that some human interaction.
The third reason that burns teachers out is expectations. This is kind of a two part situation. There is expectations that teachers set because we want the best for our students. However, the student is unable to meet these expectations. It could be due to demographics, physical disabilities, or laziness. Sometimes it is just because expectations being too high.
The other problem about expectations are those set by parents/counselors in IEP’s. Sometimes the children or a child disrupts your class making teaching feel like it’s impossible. Some days it takes all a teacher has just to get through the day with all-inclusive

I never try to fix my problem because there were never any consequences to it. I would pass all my classes with decent grades with no problems despite ignoring a lot of the work, but then I was called by my English teacher to stay after class.…

rate of teacher turnover, as instructors at these schools often tire of dealing with more daily obstacles than their counterparts at more stable schools (Cooter, 2003, p. 121). Further studies have shown that students who attend these schools with a high transient population and do not move suffer the consequences of being part of an unstable school environment (Gasper et al., 2010; Parke & Kanyongo, 2012). The research has shown that students who attend schools with a high mobility rate also are more apt to be taught by teachers who are less effective. In essence, more stable schools are able to attract more qualified candidates when they have an open position. This leaves unstable schools (those with a high mobility rate) having…
