Studying at home and doing university work also included in my contracted time. My committed time is mainly just shopping outside for groceries or self-care. My free time is mostly leisure activities but not all free time is leisure time. My leisure time can also be in my other activities such as going to church and at university as I am able to meet friends and learn more things. My leisure activities are usually casual leisure activities (Mackenzie & O'Toole, 2011). Casual leisure activities are usually are activities to pass the time such as spectator sports (Mackenzie & O'Toole, 2011). When playing video games, my leisure activity would be classified as serious leisure as I am playing for pleasure and for feelings of accomplishment (Mackenzie & O'Toole, 2011). Playing video games also allows me to interact through the internet and also can give a sense of belonging (Mackenzie & O'Toole, 2011). The weekdays fit into most of my weekly pattern of activities such as attending university, completing assignments and so on. These routines of occupation has a huge impact on my balance of activities in everyday life. According to my time use diary, I am not getting enough sleep and this plays the most major role as sleep affects everything that we do. This routine of sleeping late and waking up early is not good for my health. My current roles as a student also impacts my patterns of time use as I would have more contracted time use due to university and also needing to finish assignments and study. Through the findings of the time use survey, I also found out that I am more active and alert during the night which is known as eveningness. Evening oriented individuals sleep later at night and are able to perform better in the evening and night hours (Randler et al., 2012). The activities I engaged in throughout the three days allowed me to get closer to my life goals. By attending university, I am able to acquire knowledge and socialise and this aids me to get closer to my goal of becoming an occupational therapist.
