Comedy movies are more than just light entertainment on a Saturday afternoon – or a great option for a date night! The funniest movies tend to live on even after the credits have rolled out. They provide us with earworms, quotes we share in funny situations and moves we recreate with our friends. They are even our comfort blankets when times get tough and we need a smile.

Comedy is also quite a hard art to master. Whilst there are tons of examples of the times when the jokes just don’t work, we wanted to focus on the masterpieces. So, here are our picks for the funniest movies ever.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

The British comedy group did a number of laughable movies, but the Holy Grail is perhaps the group’s best.

The film parodies King Arthur’s quest to find the Holy Grail. King Arthur tags along the Knights of the Round Table and so the hunt begins. Naturally, not everything come according to plan A, or even B.

3. Some Like It Hot (1959)

Marilyn Monroe is often remembered only for her looks, but she was also a great comedy actress. In 1959, director Billy Wilder created this funny movie with Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.

In the movie, two musicians, played by Lemmon and Curtis, flee after witnessing a horrific massacre. In order to disguise, they decide to dress up as female. Unfortunately, one of them falls for the seductive singer Sugar (Monroe) and chaos ensues.

4. This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

Mockumentaries are a big thing these days, but this Rob Reiner movie is the ultimate grandfather of them all.

Between and after all these there are fights between co-workers and an angry pregnant panda. It’s simply funny.

9. Clueless (1995)

While some people claim this movie to be a simple teenage film, we disagree. Clueless is a brilliant comedy with an accurate social critique of its time.

The main character of the movie is a superficial, but good-natured, schoolgirl. Her quest to do good leads to unexpected mishaps and failures – and ton’s of funny scenes.

10. Team America: World Police (2004)

The creators of South Park turned a Thunderbirds-style puppet movie into a classic comedy film.

The satirical action comedy sees a paramilitary anti-terrorism force take on the evil dictator, Kim Jong-il. The team has to deal with super spies and lost friendships.

So, set up the big screen at home, order some pop corn and nachos, and relax on a comfy sofa with the above films. You can build your own home theatre by using Voucherbin.co.uk for offers and use Live for Films website to find out more great comedy after you’re done with the above
