Introduction Seeing a typical family being broken up is saddening, but a family being broken up by one or two of their own kind is unsettling. That is what happened in the Menendez family. Was this an act of revenge? This is one of many questions the Menendez brothers left in the minds of many people who witnessed the trial happen on live television. Many people are still questioning whether the Menendez brothers were abused by their parents. Some people might even say the brothers did it for the inheritance, considering the fact that their parents were rich. People were even questioning how the police handled the case, because when the police initially arrived at the scene they failed to check the brothers for gunshot residue. It is odd how the police don’t treat rich higher class people the same way they would treat anybody else who are not high class. Many people found it odd how it took over two months before the police finally decided to investigate the two brothers. One question that still puzzles me personally is what could have possibly cause two brothers to want to kill their parents? Yes, the brothers had their way with the law and their parents, but even that wouldn’t convince a normal person to kill their parents. In this paper, we will go through the minds of the two brothers before the murder, the night of the murder, and the aftermath of the murder. The people who played a crucial role in this case were Leslie Abramson (Erick Menendez’s defense attorney), Jill Lansing (Lyle’s Defense attorney), Erick and Lyle Menendez, Judge Stanley Weisberg, Dr. Jerome Oziel, Prosecutor Pam Bozanich, Detective Les Zoeller, Glenn Stevens (Lyle’s friend who was with him when he got arrested).
