Similarities Between Antonio Yarbough And Sharrif Wilson

Decent Essays
Two teenagers spent 22 years in prison because DNA was not properly tested. These two teenagers, Antonio Yarbough and Sharrif Wilson, were convicted of triple homicide. Antonio came home one night after a night of partying and found the 3 bodies stabbed and partially undressed. These 3 bodies were Antonio’s mother, sister and cousin. Wilson had testified against Yarbough out of fear but ended up convicted as well. There was little DNA evidence supporting these two boys murdering the three people. Only after 21 years was a small amount of evidence found. There was DNA under Yarboughs mother’s nails that were never properly identified. This DNA had matched from another sample in a rape murder crime that occurred years after the boy’s conviction.

The man convicted for her murder was Darryl Hunt, a 19 year old boy that would go on to spend 20 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Hunt was convicted based on eye-witness testimony and informants, but was later exonerated based on DNA evidence that matched a man that was caught just a few months after the murder took place. This case is an exemplar of the strength of DNA evidence and the fragility of eyewitness testimony.…
