She goes on to explain that she learned to love the so called “language” and it became very easy to use once learned. My patient and his grandmother spoke were spanish speaking only and the physician came in and asked if they needed an interpreter for rounds and I said they definitely needed an interpreter to communicate effectively during rounds. Later, during rounds this patient interpreter was very helpful in communicating amongst family members and the medical team. This week, I started to see patients on my own at the Health Department. I saw more infants compare to when I was at the Vine Clinic. I noticed there is a high prevalence of Hispanic patient population in this office, which explained why there were three Spanish interpreters at the site. The preceptor who I am with also can speak some Spanish. I do see the benefit of having a bilingual provider when serving a population like this.…

Luckily enough I have a scribe leader who was trained me, thus we didn’t waste time and get all the patients’ daily progress reports done. After that day, I set a goal for myself to memorize all the necessary terms before my next shift. I spent a whole week making flashcard and tried my best to remember all the terms and their abbreviations. I also took a typing practice test consists of the medical terms to improve my typing speech and get me ready for the real job. During my shift the following week I was able to catch up and abbreviate terminology to match up with the pace of the doctor.…
