“Human resources are like natural resources; they are often buried deep. You have to go looking for them, they are not just lying around on the surface. You have to create the circumstances where they show themselves.” - once said Ken Robinson, British advisor on education. However finding hidden employees can be much easier than keeping them and it is managers task to “create circumstances” in which employees would want to stay and perform more effectively. There is 5 basic functions that a human resource manager does: plans, recruits and selects, trains and develops, compensates and finally motivates. But the thing is that money can not always motivate employees. The only motivation for employees can be satisfaction of their needs. To improve employees performance, human resource managers must resort to Maslow’s hierarchy of need to provide proper “circumstances” to their employees. Logic is simple if company wants it’s employee to perform more efficiently and effectively, human resource manager must satisfy employee’s need. If one need is satisfied managers should try to satisfy servant’s next need to …show more content…
As said Thomas Edison: “there is no substitute for hard work”, human resources have always been irreplaceable in our society, despite the fact that technology is improving at its fastest rate there is no such a robot that could think like a human. So human resources will always be demanded. Although human beings are tend to improve, they also need a motivation. According to Maslow’s theory, needs are the thing that drives and motivates people. Despite the fact that it’s not an optimal theory, it’s the most effective theory to motivate employees. If people have something to strive for, they will perform their best to achieve it. Aspiration of people is what makes human resource management
