Mandatory training is another drawback in a diverse workforce. During diverse training employees, supervisors and managers receive lessons on how best to communicate with customers, clients, and employees who represent diverse society. Increasing workplace diversity often requires training to reduce conflict among diverse employees. Employees might see mandatory training as the equivalent of forcing them to accept diversity at all costs, regardless of their personal experiences. Cultural diversity training can aid employees to improve their performance by creating a workplace free of personal judgments and different stereotypes. Although many employees may have certain opinions about their co-workers, diversity training will help employees recognize the behaviors that could possibly create a negative or uncomfortable work environment. …show more content…
Workplace diversity training is an investment in the employees, which results in an investment in an organization. Cultural awareness serves as a bridge between employees whose paths might not otherwise cross. Mandatory training program serves to show diversity in religion, ethnicity, gender, background, disabilities and age. It is important for employees in organizations to have a comprehensive understanding of cultural diversity, which is crucial to successful business operations. Mandatory diversity training for managers should be incorporated as part of a developmental learning process to ensure managers can effectively deal with diversity problems. Managers need to be trained for them to be able to handle conflicts associated with diversity among employees.
