Manager as a Role Model

Being a manager comes with a lot of responsibilities and not everyone can handle such a pressure of being a leader. It is not necessary that a hard working individual with a lot of experience can be a good leader, as sometimes a good leader may not be competitive as some of the employees. As any company’s manager comes with many responsibilities including hiring, terminating, scheduling, inventory, supervising and etc. A supervisor shall always lead with example because the employees look up to their bosses and expects to learn from them because one day they might take management position. In other words, there is absolutely no fraternizing. Apparently, it is really tough to keep all those rules intact. For example; one of my employee who was a really hard working individual, asked a young lady out on a date, she happened to be client as well as one of my executive’s daughter. On the very next morning, I was asked to be in my executive’s office as I found out what happened. The executive downplayed the entire conversation and was laughing, but it made me upset. I evidently went and spoke to the young man and gave him a written final warning and explained to him that it should not happen again because it can cause him loose his job. Apparently, exactly after one week, the same young man asked another lady out and she happened to be working within the company. What makes it worse, she was married. As I found out, I immediately called upon a meeting with him including my colleague. The very next morning, I terminated him and explained to him my reasoning. My biggest objective was the safety and comforting of my company’s employees and clients. This is one of the hardest task a manager has to deal with. One the hardest task for a manager is to keep everyone intact and follow company’s code of ethics. If a manager inforce its employees to follow guidelines to the core, then the manager may not be likeable in his employee’s point of view. Therefore, managers should learn how to enforce and bend the rules at the same time
