For many years Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender people have been fighting to have equal rights. They have suffered discrimination, and lack of respect because they have different sexual preferences. They have had to hide their love towards the person they love because people are disrespectful and find it disgusting to love the same gender or love someone the same as them. Through out our history Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual and Transgender people have made our world have a better understanding that everyone is different and that love is love no matter what laws say about it.
For many years, LGBT Americans have suffered discrimination because they have tried to make people understand who they really are. They have tried this by working in changing the laws and views on marriage equality. Dawnetter Miller who wrote the article about the LGBT social movement history emphasizes that LGBT people have gone through discrimination and not many laws have been passed to protect the LGBT group. “Here are some states with laws protecting gay men and lesbian women in areas such as hate crimes, relationship recognition, employment, housing and public accommodations, and adoption (Movement Advancement Project 2010)” Thanks to the Movement Advancement Project 2010 they help people have more insight about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
