Stonewall Riot was a riot between the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender community against Police officers. It took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall inn, located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York city. The riots marks the beginning of the modern day gay liberation. During the riots gay and drag queens showed heterosexual people that they are as physical as them. Before the riots gay people and drag queens did not have any right or any activist group that fight for their rights in society, they faced an anti-gay legal system.. During the same year the Gay Liberation partnered with the Black Panther to speak on the rights of African American, it was so shack to a lot people to see those two group working together because the Black Panthers were considered homophobic. In December of 1969, some former activist of the Gay Liberation withdrawn from the group, people like Jim Owles, Marty Robinson, Arthur Evans, and Arthur Bell went on to create the Gay Activist Alliance. The Gay Activist Alliance focused only on gay and lesbian issues. By 1970s, hundreds and thousands of gay people across the country respond by creating a lot of gay and lesbian clubs and organization and they won a lot of support from the heterosexual community. Before the 1974 heterosexual people classify homosexual as a mental disorder; that all changed after the American Psychiatric Association conduct a resource in 1974, the research prove that homosexual is not a mental disorder. Till to this day the LGBT community still fighting hard to gain their equal right as other people in the community. Now gay and lesbian can get marry in some states.
